Eh, it was just a typo, and we all know what he meant.

Re: DinoMania Trivia!
Got a new job, so I will only have time to chat on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Right now I'm having to restrict all Internet use on Fri-Mon to about 15 minutes per day...just long enough to check email accounts and read the LotP threads. Actually...today I'm a little short on time, so I'm gonna have to skip Hangman.

Yeah, if the Internet wasn't shut down at my house at 10:30 every night, it'd be a different story, since I get off work after it goes down, but even then, you're in bed by that time.
Back on track here...
#43 Which dinosaur was originally named after male genitals?

Re: DinoMania Trivia!
Just a hint-- its name was changed once they realized what the dinosaur actually looked like.
By the way-- I don't mind if you research this one. It's pretty difficult to find on Wikipedia unless you happen to know what the applied name was.

Re: DinoMania Trivia!
Ah, thats wonderful.
The answer is Megalosaurus.
Lol yeah I looked it up. Although anyway, I always did notice how the original fossil closely resembled a certain body part.
Edit: Tricky you. Just checked the Megalosaurus article on Wikipedia and saw a thing about 'scotum humanum' that has been added, and a quick check of the page history shows you edited the article very recently. Your doing, I presume? : P

Re: DinoMania Trivia!
Haha, yeah, I updated the taxobox there to display the synonyms since it wasn't there already.
As it would happen, the scientific community declared the name Scrotum humanum was unscientific (and of terrible taste) and changed it. Thus, Megalosaurus was the first dinosaur ever to be described formally.
The archaeologist who discovered it (named Plot) consulted a friend who said it was the base of a femur bone. This led him to conclude it was the base of the femur of a giant man or woman. The name Scrotum wasn't assigned for 87 years by Brookes. Many years later, scientists learned about dinosaurs, and eventually after going by the name of Scrotum for 61 years, the dinosaur was formally described for the first time, under the name Megalosaurus. In 1990, the ICZN declared the name Scrotum invalid.

Ignore degrees, and compare it to something else.

Oh. Wait a minute...they were cold-blooded, right? So it would be the same temperature as the surrounding water.
