Sporum Threads Issue Empty Sporum Threads Issue

Post by Vektrix Mon May 17, 2010 9:31 am

Hi guys, I am the bearer of bad news. The Sporum is experiencing some MAJOR issues at the moment. As I type the entire Sporum has crashed. Before this though, several threads lost all their posts and the ability to post in them was also removed.

This has effected The European Club, Pinnacle Sigs, Mouthwash's Fail Comments, the Night Club and unfortunately Lords of the Past was also taken.

I do not expect to know anything about this issue until monday afternoon, so please be patient.

This has meant that any posts made in these threads are no longer counting towards your post count (I for one have lost nearly 4,000 posts in the incident).

I am now going off to cry.

Perhaps it's time to start it up fresh again, anyway. It was inevitable that it couldn't last forever-- no computer can handle infinite posts in an infinite number of threads. I guess having lost the entire Mythology Sporecast Collection (2 years' work) and Zoology Sporecast Collection (1 year's work) last year, this isn't quite as big of a blow for me. I just hope the Prehistoric Sporecast Collection doesn't have to go, too!

Anyway, this would give Dino a chance to grab the first post of a new thread. Smile

I believe that now would be an appropriate time for us to look back and remember everything we were forced to leave behind in our former thread. Most of us have left behind at least something there, be it a conversation, a creation, a fond memory of fun times, etc.

Now then, I believe that is is also sometimes best to start anew. I had, actually, suggested that I make I new thread when I took over leadership, but had received a bit of a backlash.
It is time for us to look ahead. As I said, starting fresh can be good sometimes. Besides, with a new thread, much more is possible now. I can update the OP. I can hold contests directly in the thread rather than a separate one. I can add more features, goodies, who knows what else?

The rebirth of the LOTP shall be tonight. I have not the time right now, unfortunately. And a new OP will be coming along tomorrow. Smile

Sporum Threads Issue Empty Re: Sporum Threads Issue

Post by Dino589 Mon May 17, 2010 12:33 pm

NO ONE POST IN IT RIGHT NOW
I am waiting for a reserved post to load. I got Oops the first time and now the page is refusing to load. >.<

Edit: FFFFFFUUUUUU-- I need to go for a short period of time. I've been waiting 15 minutes and I keep getting page load errors. Looks like we will be stuck with one main post... : (

Edit again: This is effing annoying. The Sporum is working fine for a while, I get the new LOTP thread up, I post in it to reserve the second post for future use, but get Oopsed, and the damn place has stopped working ever since. Right now I'm hoping the thread remains dormant until I wake up and can have the chance to update it again. Usually I am very patient with forum glitches; if its not working, find something else to do and come to check back later, although this time the glitching was extremely untimely. >.<

Problem solved. The LOTP is officially reborn at last!
I should warn, though, that some threads which still aren't yet as popular have died due to the glitch (War and Piece Redux, North American Club 3), so we aren't out of the woods yet. But whether or not that happens, things are still covered for us.

I don't think anyone's ever gotten killed from getting hit by a meteor, with the exception of microbes, insects, and possibly a dinosaur that might have not seen it coming. More likely, you'd be killed within the vicinity of a meteor by the meteor rather than getting squished by it.
